A burgundy red fox haori with a graphic print combining a fox and a torii gate, printed on a light satin polyester. The fox is a well-known figure in Japanese folklore, tied to protection and cunning, and it gives this jacket more narrative than a plain floral or geometric print. Eleven pattern variations mean the graphic placement differs slightly from one jacket to the next, so no two pieces line up exactly the same way. Foxes appear throughout Japanese folk tales as clever, sometimes shape-shifting figures, which adds a bit of story to what could otherwise be a simple animal graphic.
The hip-length cut and three-quarter sleeves keep the shape traditional, while the burgundy base gives the print a warmer, richer backdrop than black would. The torii gate in the print is a nod to Shinto shrine architecture, tying the fox back to its folkloric roots rather than making it purely decorative. The combination of the two symbols gives the jacket more depth than a single stand-alone motif.

How do I care for my kimono?
Follow the care label on your piece. Cotton and polyester kimonos usually take a cold, gentle wash and hang to dry. Silk and satin pieces prefer a gentle hand wash in cold water, no wringing and no tumble dryer.
