A knee-length kimono cardigan in blue, printed with a scattered floral that keeps the piece feeling soft rather than busy. The cut is loose through the body with an open front and dropped shoulders, so it layers over almost anything without pulling or gaping: a swimsuit, a tank top, or a fitted dress.
It's made in cotton, which means it breathes in warm weather and keeps its shape wash after wash better than a slippery synthetic would. Available in S, M and L, each size is cut slightly longer through the body as it goes up the range, so the proportions stay balanced rather than simply wider. The floral print sits close together rather than in large blocks, which is why it reads as texture from a distance and pattern up close.
Worn open over a plain swimsuit, the floral print does the visual work while the cotton stays cool against sunscreen and damp skin. Off the beach, it works knotted at the front over a tank top and shorts, or left open over a slip dress for evening. How do I care for my kimono?
Follow the care label on your piece. Cotton and polyester kimonos usually take a cold, gentle wash and hang to dry. Silk and satin pieces prefer a gentle hand wash in cold water, no wringing and no tumble dryer.
